Senior Cycle Art Tour to Paris - April 2023
Almost 60 students enjoyed a wonderful trip to Paris in late April, accompanied by Ms. Murray, Mr. Carter, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Dalton and Ms. Molloy. During the trip the girls experienced all the wonderful sights that Paris has to offer as well as gaining a first hand insight into the many wonderful art works which they are studying for their Leaving Certificate, not to mention an action packed day at Euro Disney. The video clip below gives a flavour of the experience.
We have a long tradition of school trips and tours in St. Mary’s College, both at home and abroad. While these trips are always optional and students are under no pressure to participate they have proven to be an enjoyable and educational experience for those involved and create lasting memories for students and teachers of their schooldays outside of the classroom.
The trips can be class or year group based such as the annual day trips in May which form part of our Positive Discipline system. They can also be subject based or for Junior or Senior cycles but many are open to all students (subject to places available).
In recent years St. Mary’s students have travelled to Rome for Home Economics Italian Cookery trips and on a ski trip to Bulgaria. The language departments have organised tours to Munich, Berlin and Strasbourg. Paris was the destination for Senior Art classes while Science students got the opportunity to visit the European Space Centre in Belgium. A group of staff and students walked the last stage of the Camino de Santiago in Spain and our TY students have undertaken, with their teachers to raise funds and volunteer in an orphanage in Belarus. Trips to Warner Brothers Studios in London have delighted Harry Potter fans and closer to home, Derry has been a frequent destination for our senior History students. First year students have enjoyed escorted weekend trips to the Gaeltacht.
It is hoped that post Covid 19 restrictions our students will once again be able to avail of more wonderful opportunities to travel.
